By it’s very nature pilates taught at an advanced level, using the classical mat principles, involves detailed analysis of the anatomical, biomechanical and physiological outcomes of each exercise and an in-depth analysis of a clients movement patterns. In order to teach pilates as a form of movement progression, correcting dysfunctional and compensatory movement patterns your knowledge of biomechanics, kinesiology, physiology and your ability to visually and verbally analyse movement has to be at the highest level. This comprehensive Pilates certificate will take your Pilates coaching to an incredible level. You can take this course fully live streamed in the comfort of your own home or attend the training in our Maidenhead venue. Through the live streaming you will be fully taught by the tutor and interact with the class members exactly the same as face to face.

To take this advanced certificate in instructing mat pilates, you must be an experienced Pilates teacher with a full national qualification in Mat Pilates at level 3, together with a minimum of 12 months teaching experience after certification date. You must have an advanced ability to analyse and communicate exercises using the pilates method. The nature of the delivery of this certificate will challenge your current level of knowledge and progress your skills and understanding from level 3, through level 4 anatomy & physiology and beyond. You will develop a deep visual ability to understand and breakdown movement, micro control and correct movement patterns and the ability to analyse and communicate movement in detail across the pilates method and exercises.

To complete the advanced certificate in instructing mat pilates you will attend 4 advanced modules at level 4 and the choice of an optional module of either pre and post natal or exercise therapy. There is no other course in the country that contains the Exercise Therapy unit. This is a unique unit to Drummond delivered by their clinical exercise therapists and will open new business areas for you and give you the knowledge and skills to really help your clients and class members.  If you are a Drummond graduate and already hold or have attended one of the options modules in the previous 24 months this module learning can be accredited into this certificate as prior learning. The core modules are 1) level 4 advanced anatomy, physiology and kinesiology, 2) advanced movement analysis, kinetic chain function, dysfunction and compensatory movements. 3) Advanced level 4 Pilates analysis, teaching, progression and adaptation, 4) standing pilates and small equipment and the optional module of your choice.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

• Biomechanics including levers, planes, axis, joint action analysis, spatial movement, length tension relationship and advanced anatomy & physiology
• Analysis and communication of exercises by spatial, joint action, joint stabilisation & position, micro control, neural control, proprioception, motor control
• Full exercise movement screening and analysis based on physiological, technical and fitness demands
• Building a movement screening programme using the pilates method and exercises
• Forensic analysis of the classical mat 34 to communicate and verbalise the method using precision markers, breath, micro control and control of compensatory movements
• Teaching and communicating the exercises using the forensic analysis method to be able to sequence the variations and adaptations of the classical mat method and exercises.
• To be able to adapt and progress the classical mat exercises to meet the physiological and technical demands of the components of fitness and build programmes using the components of fitness
• To adapt and progress the classical mat method into standing method and analyse the physical and technical demands
• The use of small equipment to focus or challenge your clients including freeFORM, beamfit, pilates circles, therabands and balls and more
• To choose one additional module from pre and post natal or exercise therapy

HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE LAST?

• Attendance on 8 module days in total and pre-reading & self study
• Level 4 anatomy & physiology – 1 day
• Level 4 advanced movement and biomechanics of pilates – 1 day
• Level 4 advanced Pilates adaptation & progression  – 2 days
• Small equipment and standing pilates – 1 day
• One additional module from either pre and post natal – 2 days or exercise therapy – 2 days
• Assessment day – 1 day
