AIQ Sports Massage Diploma Course (Level 3)

This Sports Massage Diploma certificate will qualify you in Sports Massage Therapy and Soft Tissue Therapy and enable you to work as a Sports Massage Therapist. You will also be able to become a member of the Sports Therapy Organisation’s National Register at Level 3 or 4. In the world of personal training, sport, health and exercise, clients are increasingly benefiting from sports massage whether to improve overall health or function, or to prepare for events or post event recovery. Whether training for a fun run, a marathon, a triathlon or any team event sports massage both pre and post training or pre and post event is what keeps your clients active no matter what level or experience. It is a great qualification and skill set to add to your business portfolio as it introduces a whole new niche in the market for you.

We now offer the sports massage diploma with both a short course option and a long course option. The diploma you receive is the same sports massage diploma the only addition in the long course is that includes 3 additional modules that are of great use in the work of a sports massage therapist.

This Sports Massage Diploma  course is internationally accepted and recognised by & CIMSPA.

As an organisation our environmental policy is to print as little as possible. With this in mind all of our courses have downloadable manuals on your own online learning centre. You can download these to your own computer and you can keep them for life.

The level 3 massage short course option is delivered over 3 two day modules which require hands on case study practice between each module and a 4th module of anatomy & physiology. The level 3 sports massage short course option is delivered with exactly the same modules as the short course and with an additional 3 further modules, Postural Analysis and Movement Correction, Advanced Stretch & Mobility Techniques and Business and Marketing. You can also add level 4 sports massage to either the short course option or the long course option for an additional £695.

If you cannot make one module in a course you can re-schedule the dates to suit your timetable.

LEVEL 4 CERTIFICATE UNITS.

The level 4 certificate is a development module from level 3. This module incorporates a deeper level of knowledge. At level 4 you can expand your knowledge into clinical procedures for assessment and treatment planning. It will also enable you to understand the purpose of neuromuscular and tissue mobilisation techniques and apply them, allowing you to prescribe corrective exercise to aid in the treatment of common injuries and soft tissue dysfunction. Level 3 is a pre-requisite or you can book both together as a development programme. If you hold a current level 3 you can progress to level 4 as a stand alone module. WHAT WILL I STUDY? (LEVEL 3 UNITS)

• Functional anatomy applied to pre-hab and re-hab exercise
• Clinical assessment and client management
• Clinical applications of sports massage therapy including the role and legal obligations of a sports massage therapist
• In depth knowledge of anatomy & physiology applied to the principles of sports massage techniques including all of the major body systems
• Massage methods and treatment applications including palpation, Effleurage, Petrissage, Compression, Vibration, Tapotement and advanced specialised techniques
• Active and passive range of movement and myofacial chain assessment
• Soft tissue damage, injury and rehabilitation
• Exercise prescription for sports massage including advanced stretching techniques

WHAT IS THE COURSE ABOUT? (LEVEL 4 UNITS)

• Functional anatomy applied to pre-hab and re-hab exercise
• Common injuries and soft tissue dysfunction effecting:  spine, pelvic-hip complex, shoulder, knee, ankle and foot, elbow, wrist and hand
• Clinical procedures for client assessment and treatment planning
• How to effectively conduct objective physical assessments for all of body
• Clinical issues – safe treatment and contraindications to treatment
• An understanding of neuromuscular and soft tissue mobilisation techniques – including soft tissue release techniques, connective tissue therapy, trigger points and positional release techniques
• The effective application of the above neuromuscular and soft tissue mobilisation techniques
• Principles of corrective exercise prescription
• Prescribing and demonstrating corrective exercise to aid in the treatment of common injuries/soft tissue dysfunction
• Adapting exercises with suitable progressions and regressions according to client needs

Level 4 Sports Massage Certificate can be added to either the short course option or the long course option for an additional £695

HOW LONG DOES THE SHORT COURSE LAST?(LEVEL 3 UNITS)

• Self study online anatomy programme or manual if preferred
• One days theory attendance on level 3 anatomy module (if not already level 3 qualified)
• Six days attendance over 4 modules of applied clinical massage (each module can be taken in any order except the Specialist module)
• One day assessment

HOW LONG DOES THE LONG COURSE LAST?

All of the above modules for the short course and in addition the following 3 modules:-

• Postural analysis & corrective exercise – 2 days
• Advanced stretch and mobility for myo-fascial release – 1 day
• Business marketing & services blue printing or Digital marketing & social media – 1 day

WHO IS THE COURSE SUITABLE FOR?

• Individuals 18 years and over
• Individuals who wish to change career or add sports massage and soft tissue therapy to their services & business

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR LEVEL 3 SPORTS MASSAGE?

• There is no pre-requisite for this course as you will take the level 2 and 3 anatomy & phsyiology units as part of this course if you do not already hold them as qualifications. If you do already hold the level 2 and 3 fitness qualifications you can attend just the massage days above and miss the anatomy days if you prefer.

LEVEL 4 ASSESSMENT

• Conducting an objective physical assessment
• Applying neuromuscular and soft tissue mobilisation techniques
• Prescribing corrective exercise to support the treatment of common injuries

• No, all course materials are available to download from your online learning centre
